About Adam McArthur

My family and I knew that Spruce Grove was the place for us the first time we came through town.

My wife, Samantha works for Alberta Health Services and runs her own business- Peekaboo2u providing elective 3D/4D mobile ultrasounds. We have two great kids aged 6 and 3. Our oldest attends public school in Spruce and our youngest will as well when the time comes. We are working parents-like many other people in Spruce Grove. It's busy and we love it.

I grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario and moved West when I was 18 to attend the University of Calgary. I hold a bachelor degree in Economics which always gives me a unique view of resources. I had worked in banking for about 6 years before taking a journey to work for Community Futures in 2012-first in Slave Lake and now serving Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and the surrounding region.

As General Manager of Community Futures Capital Region, I spend my days with my team finding ways to support small businesses in our community. Start Up Businesses can be like students: They have many ways to be successful and the surest way to succeed is by having a plan, working hard and having a great support network. We also do significant Community Economic Development work with local chambers of commerce, municipalities and post secondary schools.

I have spent time as an Associate Member on the Lesser Slave Lake Economic Alliance learning how to collaborate with different regional partners building an understanding of how to work to align varying interests. I have been a Rotary Club member where I experienced the power of dedicated volunteers united toward supporting their community. I currently sit as a Trustee with the Spruce Grove Public Library. In my time as a Trustee I have learned how interdependent our community is on each other and our institutions.

I believe strongly that a community like Spruce Grove is a product of the hard work of the people that came before us. I also believe that it only thrives if we are actively keeping residents engaged in what makes this a fantastic place to live.
